MICHELLE BLYDE PSYCHOTHERAPIST
weekly in person sessions for adults IN North Shore, Auckland
how I work
I am a registered therapist in Albany offering relational and psychodynamic therapy for adults. This means that I pay attention not only to what is happening in your life now, but also to how past experiences shape your emotions, relationships, and sense of self. I attend carefully not only to your story, but to what unfolds between us in the therapy relationship.
I bring both professional training and meaningful lived experience to my work. I have worked extensively with clients whose histories are layered and complex, including neglect, relational/attachment trauma, abuse, anxiety, and depression. Alongside individual therapy, I co-facilitate therapeutic groups supporting clients through addiction, trauma, grief, and periods of significant emotional distress. I am deeply committed to offering a therapeutic space that feels safe, respectful, and collaborative.
I came to this work because I have always been curious about what happens between individuals, how relationships shape us, and how much we long to feel seen by others. Relationships shape us from childhood and continue to shape us as adults, the same is true of a therapeutic relationship.
How Therapy CAN Help
Therapy is a unique space where you can talk openly about thoughts and feelings you might not ordinarily share with others, in ways that aren’t always possible in everyday relationships. Therapy is about building a relationship where meaningful change can emerge.
Many people appear to have it all together on the surface, while privately carrying complex emotional pain. Therapy offers an opportunity to look at the deeper influences underneath, recognising that our internal world, past experiences, society and culture all shape us. Importantly, therapy is not just about understanding why, but also a way to create meaningful change in your life.
I offer therapy for a wide range of concerns, including but not limited to: Loneliness, anxiety, breakups, depression, emotional instability and overwhelm, complex trauma, abuse, grief and loss, identity, neurodiversity, panic attacks, substance use, illness, self-esteem issues, stress, and toxic shame. I am also passionate about working with adults who have experienced relational trauma in childhood and intimate relationships. However, I do not see anyone as a collection of ‘concerns’, but as a whole person with a complex and meaningful life story.
